Ali Hayajneh

Dr. Ali Hayajneh is currently an Assistant professor in Communication and Networking for IoT, Robotics, and Autonomous Systems at Hashemite University. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Leeds, UK. He received the BSc degree and MSc from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Irbid, Jordan, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. He was awarded the JUST award for MSc study and a fully-funded scholarship from the Hashemite University for his Ph.D.

From September 2015 till August 2019, he served as a Research Assistant in the Institute of Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Sensing (IRASS) at the University of Leeds. In 2015, he was awarded a fully-funded scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. at the University of Leeds, U.K. He was also awarded the students travel grant from the IEEE GLOBECOM conference 2018. In 2020, He has received a project grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering under the title “Drone-assisted micro-irrigation” in Transforming Systems through Partnership (TSP) Program. In 2021 he was also awarded the Distinguished International Associate (DIA) award for his project “Ultra-Low-Cost Machine Learning Enabled IoT Devices on The Edge”. He has an excellent publications profile and attended many flagship conferences in the field of wireless communications and robotics.

He is a visiting research scientist at the University of Leeds since September 2019. He has served as an invited reviewer for IEEE flagship journals and conferences. His current research interests include drone assisted wireless communications, public safety communication networks, backscatter communication, deep learning neural networks (DNN), reinforcement learning (RL), power harvesting, stochastic geometry, Machine to Machine (M2M) communications, modeling of heterogeneous networks, mobile edge computing (MEC). Ali is working as an Android and Django backend developer and working on integrating, utilizing the IoT promising technologies for the management of smart-agriculture, smart-homes and cities. His experience in many programming languages gives him the motivation to diverse his interests in utilizing many platforms and technology engines.
